Hi guys, I'm a Windows developer and I believe I will soon buy a Tecra M7 to work on the road. BTW Thanks to jritter for the great review.
Can't wait to read part2! My problem is that I will need to buy a Tecra with a French Canadian keyboard, because I need the accents to write in French, but I also need to install the English version of Windows Tablet Edition to have an English only Development platform (weird, but mandatory). And the French Canadian Tecra I will order through Toshiba Canada will most certainly be delivered with the French Windows version only. Being a MSDN developer, I sure have a DVD with the English version somewhere in the huge flow of DVD Microsoft send me;-) but I wonder what kind of problems I will have to resolve by installing a fresh version from scratch, and not the Toshiba pre-installed one.
Drivers problems maybe? Anyone with a similar experience care to share? Though I have access to an MSDN subscription, I reinstalled from a Windows Media Center Edition CD and used a Tablet PC Edition CD when it prompted me for some tablet files (Windows XP Professional Disk #2). It accepted the OEM key on the bottom of my tablet.
Part of the hero was to find his place in this complex political environment, to contain the disobedient nobility, and to rebuild the former great as one of the six accessible groups of pioneers. Mount and blade 2 bannerlord download free. The general start of loading and blade II does not depart from what we have seen before.
I didn't have any problems. Make sure you have your drivers on hand, either burned to a CD or on a USB drive, because Windows will not recognize the Intel wireless or the LAN. Install only the Toshiba programs you want and you're all set. My computer is much faster now that I've gotten rid of all that Toshiba garbage. Click to expand.Hi Nivedh, if you could help me I would be much obliged. I too have a Toshiba R25 and would like to reformat and do a fresh installation of Windows XP Tablet Edition. I downloaded what appears to be the OS from here:, and followed these instructions exactly:.
I even changed the setupp.ini file to accept my OEM key from the bottom of my tablet, but it failed. The disk wouldn't boot my computer, and when I ran it from inside windows, it would not accept the CD key. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry guys, I was gone on vacation for a while. As I mentioned before, I used a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 CD. The volume label is MRMPINTEN and the PID in SETUPP.ini is 76487000 which makes it retail I believe. For some reason, it accepted the product key on the bottom of my R25. At one point, it asked for Windows XP Professional Disk #2 so that is when I inserted my MSDN Tablet PC Edition CD. I'm pretty sure that you can do this step with the Tablet PC Edition CD you have acquired by any means as it is just requires a few files.
Also, it is interesting that I have NEVER had any luck with modifying SETUPP.ini in regard to accepting keys that I want. PS: I installed the Toshiba software that I really need. These include the Power Saver, Screen Rotation, UPEK Fingerprint / Password security, Hard Disk Protection, Virtual Sound, Hot Keys. I might have missed a couple but you get the idea, whatever you need.
The file Tiptsf.dll on Windows XP Professional CD2 is needed. Type the path where the file is located and then click OK.
Does the tabletpc.cab file exist under the CMPNENTS directory, btw? In order to setup up Windows XP TPC, I have to boot from the floppy diskette and use the USB flash drive to set the OS up and the flash drive itself is not bootable. Right now, I'm in the process of trying to fix this. The PNY Attache 1 GB USB flash drive is 984 MB actual capacity with 147 MB remaining. In the CMPNENTS directory on drive G, I have added NETFX and TABLETPC sub-directories and added the I386 sub-directory in the two of the mentioned sub-directories, but the contents inside the directories are totally empty: CMPNENTS NETFX I386. In order to setup up Windows XP TPC, I have to boot from the floppy diskette and use the USB flash drive to set the OS up and the flash drive itself is not bootable. Ppgrainbow, maybe you could try using some of the methods that have their own section on the forum: Setting up XP from the USB is often a bit complex, due to the limitations/pickyness of the install routine, there is at least a related thread (UNfinalized): which sounds like being exactly the issue you are having.
But there are also reports of success, at least with the 'good ol' USB multiboot.cmd: In any case, either wimb or ilkot are the most expert when it comes to installing XP from USB, so you may want to try their programs and/or continue on the mentioned thread (about files on CD2).
I just went all through this recently with an old tablet computer. What i found out was: there is no windows XP 'tablet edition' discs ever released by microsoft. All the xp tablet edition OSes are OEM specific and made for each tablet manufacturer. There is a way to make your own legitimately by using some sort of microsoft development tools but it seemed complicated. I did more searching and found a forum where a member has done all the work for you. There are some steps to it like installing the correct dotnet framework from microsoft, but it was really easy and you can choose from tablet inputs from win7, vista, xp, or xp classic. In the end all i did was install regular winXP, and then follow his directions, it works perfect.
I had to dig way deep into my internet options, lan settings, wireless settings etc. But that was on vista and from the sounds of it he has xp. It would be so much easier to walk somebody through everything then even try to explain it. Id need more details. As for your 'problem' tabletonthevista, you may want to go to: Control panel Network and sharing center and make sure that people cant just 'find' your computer and get files without a password atleast. I myself have my computer discoverable but requires a password to connect with. I also remember my computer being able to connect to two networks when I was connected to one through wireless and another through LAN.
It was kind of strange but I ended up puting the wireless network lower on my list. Hope something in there can help you! To get win xp to install on your c-140 you have 2 options: 1.
Install Windows Xp Tablet Pc Edition Usb
Get an external USB floppy drive, a floppy disk and the Mother board driver for the c-140x. When you go to install xp, press f6 as soon as you boot off of the xp disk so you can load the needed sata controller drivers via a floppy disk. Using a program called Nlite you can slipstream the needed drivers into a custom xp iso image. Burn the said slipstreamed iso onto a cd. Then install using your custom xp iso disk. ( there are tons of information on the web on how to do it and i recommend that you go this route, I.E.
I am not going to explain how to do this to you in this forum ) those are really your only two options. I chose to do the second option, and now i have a custom install disk for my c-140x if i ever need. Also like stated before in this thread, if you do choose to go with either this route you will need a OEM version of Tablet XP and a working OEM key. ( this means the number on the bottom of you cpu will not work with either method ).
